Site Engineer Technician Internship

 

 

The Opportunity:

 

Great Lakes has a disciplined training program for engineers which ensures experienced-based performance as they advance through Company operations. Great Lakes employs more than 150 degreed engineers specializing in Civil, Ocean, and Mechanical engineering which has contributed to its 134-year history of never failing to complete a marine project.   

We are currently looking for engineers to fill Summer Internship positions in support of our Site Engineering staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 The intern duties include, but are not limited to:

        

  • Ensuring a safe work environment during all operations and tasks
  • Land and hydrographic surveying for construction management purposes
  • Dredge production monitoring, analysis, and reporting
  • Daily dredge and quality control reporting
  • General support of our operations and fellow team members

 

Our Base hourly rate varies depending on education and relevant work experience. You will receive 1.5 times hourly pay for hours worked over 40 hours per week. Work hours are variable and dependent on Engineering staff and project needs / requirements. Work requires a 7-day per week schedule and typically 8 to 12 hours per day. On any project assignment, the Project Engineer may, when necessary, require different schedules or positions filled.

 

The summer internship starts several days after the applicant’s finals are completed.  At that time the company will provide airfare to one of our project sites.  While on site the company will provide transportation in the form of a shared company vehicle or shared rental car.  Housing will be provided on site in the form of a single hotel room or a shared company apartment.  The company will also provide a $52 / day meal allowance while on site.   The company flies the intern back to their origin airport three to five days before classes begin again for the spring semester.  

 

We are interested in receiving resumes of seniors in the Civil Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Management majors, who will be graduating in the fall of 2025.
