Description

NOV is actively recruiting a Quality Engineering Intern to be part of the Rig Technologies business unit in Houston, Texas.  Interns in this role will work with software products that enable some of the world’s largest and most powerful industrial equipment.  The start date for this program will be June 2, 2025.

The primary responsibilities of the role will be as follows:

  • Perform data analysis and descriptive metrics on a variety of quality events, and compile and distribute periodic reports.
  • Participate in process and system audits of software engineering departments and software products, as needed.
  • Collaborate with engineering and compliance teams. 
  • Track and evaluate employee competencies and assign training activities as needed.
  • Perform root cause analysis and assist in the development, implementation and assessment of corrective actions as needed.
  • Assist departments in scheduling software projects and tracking progress as needed.
  • Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
  • Comply with all company and HSE policies and procedures.

We invite you to apply if you have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Industrial Distribution, Systems Engineering, Technology Management, or a related field.
  • Completed a minimum of 24 hours of general coursework (over 48 hours of coursework preferred), with a minimum of 6 hours in the applicable discipline.
  • Experience and proficiency in one or more software languages such as Python, C++, and Java is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills are required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to persuade and motivate others inside the organization are required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate ideas and thoughts clearly and professionally are required.
  • Self-directed and versatile with a desire for continuous learning.
  • Comfortable working in a large team environment.

About Rig Technologies: Rig Technologies is comprised of two parts: Rig Equipment and Aftermarket Operations. Our Rig Equipment team engineers and manufactures drilling rigs, advanced drilling equipment packages that automate complex drilling processes, and the related capital equipment (including top drives, iron roughnecks, drawworks, blowout preventers, mud pumps, risers, pipe handling, and power and control systems) necessary to drill oil and gas wells. We fully support the life cycle of our equipment through our Aftermarket Operations teams that provide spare parts, repair, and equipment rentals as well as remote equipment monitoring, technical support, field service, and customer training.
