Description:

We are seeking a Summer Intern for our instrument development team who is passionate about developing systems for new biomarker detection. The successful candidate will hone mechanical design skills, gain experience in system testing, and develop intuitions in troubleshooting mechatronic systems. The candidate will work with innovative technology and collaborate with a highly talented and motivated team to address unmet research and medical needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply the trained knowledge and skill sets to prototype mechanical fixtures.
  • Design and execute tests to evaluate mechanical designs.
  • Present the designs and test results to the greater engineering team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field
  • Coursework in SolidWorks or similar 2D and 3D CAD software
  • Familiarity with 3D printing, CNC machining, and other prototyping processes
  • Familiarity with at least one modern language such as Java, Python, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
  • Experience working with electromechanical systems, such as First Robotics, Vex Robotics or Formula SAE
  • Experience in designing data acquisition experiments
  • Strong communication skills to work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Ability to work cross functionally in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently, and the determination to get through challenging problems

The hourly pay range for this position is $20 - 30/ hour. Work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training determine our salary ranges. The ranges displayed on each job posting reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries but are subject to change if the leveling of the role is adjusted.
