We are currently seeking a Design and Manufacturing-Improvement Engineer Intern within the Drive unit and Motor-Gearbox team. This position requires someone who has a great knowledge in hardware design fundamentals (rotating, thermal and sensor components) and FEA analysis. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches their work with vigor and determination. Candidates will be expected to possess the ability to learn quickly and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Work on design projects that consist of tasks including but not limited to – 3D and 2D part and assembly design, concept development and simulation.
- Work on current production or future drive unit design improvements
- Collaborate with the cross functional teams, including Drive unit design, Electromagnetics, System modeling, Prototype build, manufacturing and Test teams
- Potential travel to Lucid manufacturing facilities within the US
- Help troubleshoot issues related to but not limited to design, production, warranties etc.
Requirements:
- Field(s) of study: Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD Degree program at an accredited university.
- Fundamental knowledge and passionate history of projects in engineering design and analysis
- Knowledge of Design fundamentals and experience with CAD tools and GD&T
- The capability to design experiments to validate your analysis and ideas
- General understanding of typical electric drive unit and gearbox designs
- Excellent communication skills with people of varying technical ability in your field
- Clear and concise documentation practices
Nice to have:
- Relevant internship experience in projects related to design engineering
- Experience in Catia V6
- Experience in structural FEA analysis
- Practical hands-on experience with validation and experimental measurements
Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs. Base Pay Range (Annual)
$35 - $48 USD
